The Second Coming

The second coming of Christ to the world is the blessed hope of the believer. (Titus 2:3).

Titus 2:3

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

1. The raising of the Church:

First, the raising of the Church will take place, which will include the dead in Christ, who will be resurrected, and those who live in purity and holiness, who will be transformed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, so that all may be with the Lord forever. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

When the Church is taken up, the Antichrist will be revealed and the Great Tribulation will begin. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-10).

2 Thessalonians 2:3-10

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2. The appearing:

Seven years after the raising of the Church (the seventieth week of Daniel), the appearing of Jesus Christ in the clouds of heaven will take place. He will come with His thousands of saints to bring retribution to those who did not know God and did not obey the Gospel, and He will save Israel from the power of the Antichrist in the battle of Armageddon, and will reign for a thousand years (the millennium) upon the earth. (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; Revelation 20:4; Revelation 14:20).

2 Thessalonians 1:7-10

And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

Revelation 20:4

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Revelation 14:20

And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
