Family Worship
The Family is the oldest institution in the human race. It was created by God in the Garden of Eden. All other institutions that have since arisen, such as the State, the Church, etc., always have their foundation in the Family. If the Family goes well, everything will go well.
For the Family to go well, it must be preserved as God founded it: in communion with Him and obedience to His Word (Genesis 2:18, 21-24; Genesis 3:3). For the same reason, God commanded that His Word be taught to our children in the home (Deuteronomy 6:6-9). And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. This leads us to Family Worship, which should be celebrated daily, and which should include the singing of praises to God, the reading of the Word of God, exhortation, counsel, and prayer.
Family Worship is especially for the spiritual benefit of the children, and they should be present. The atheistic teachings of schools and universities will not be able to destroy the faith of those children who have been strengthened through Family Worship (Proverbs 22:6; 2 Timothy 3:14-15). Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Convinced of the importance of Family Worship, Joshua said: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
